    [http://www.flickr.com/photos/boiani] Can’t understand why my camera doesn’t handle the blue sky, but glad I caught him;
    I pulled this when I saw yours, but your shot is awesome!

    Greg – a lovely shot, excellent eye contact!
    The sky looks fine, not having seen the original, though. If it is too light, which is a possibility, then the camera is metering on the darker plumage, and tries to make an ‘average grey’ tone (17% reflectance, I think) and will lighten the sky to compensate for the darker plumage

    I agree, the camera had to compensate the shade… in my case the bird was in full sun. ut the expression of your hawk is priceless. Remind me to try the Rabbit call….. lol

    Actually, the problem is that my ‘touch-up program’ will not allow me to bring the image out of shadow without watering-down the hawk’s color and exhibiting the ‘blue cast’. I’ve tried spot metering, without success. . . . . . Thanks, Andy, Peter.

    Greg, there is a very good, free, download programme from Google called Picasa which may allow selctive exposure and toning – its a good programme and worth trying, also, there is the GIMP another free download that does most of what Photoshop can do – it is well regarded
