Question by Kyle McRena: Why do people feel Contemporary Warfare two is realistic?
I heard a couple of players in a MW2 lobby talking about MW2′s realism, and they all agreed that MW2 is realistic. Why would they believe this?

– Soldiers don’t jump around, shooting their grenade launchers everywhere.

- They don’t “speedy-scope”, they locate a good scouting spot, set-up their bipods, stay in a prone position at all times, and wait for their opponent.

- Stealth Bombers (B-2s in this game) do not fly 100 feet above you, they fly about 30,000+ feet, and only at night. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be a “STEALTH” bomber.

- A bullet point-blank in the head from a .50 AE Desert Eagle and it doesn’t kill them (in typical game modes, not hardcore)? Please.

- The Barrett M82 (recognized as the Barrett .50 Cal) occasionally doesn’t kill when shot at the torso (chest) region? That is plain stupid, .50 BMG bullets literally rip you in half. Plus, it is impossible to shoot from the hip with a sniper rifle, because your shots will 99% of the time miss the target.

- Afghanistan isn’t all desert, Russia isn’t all snow and ice, and not all of Rio de Janeiro is a shanty town.

- No recoil or sway on some guns although standing? Genuinely?

Honestly, the only realistic factor about this game is the graphics.

it has its realism in war and in military ranks and positions also some guns off the game are based on actual guns that you just clarify and it is also known as a game for a reason… to have enjoyable not put facts together and put it down some people have there own beliefs also you know but yes military wise its either on the dot or close to it : )

Its a game that was made in few months based on the same engine from few years ago. Try bad company 2, its a LOT more realistic when it comes to guns, snipers, tanks, etc. But thats what makes mw2 fun, doing crazy ass shit that isn’t possible in real life.

@Art i think ever weapon in the game is a weapon used in real life some might just have different names.
And to answer the question its just a game no game is realistic if they were no one would play games because once you die the game will be over so they could have been talking about the way it looks just play the game an not worry about what should really happen. Good Luck

It comes down to a very simple thing. People can be extremely naive, no this game isn’t realistic it’s a video game, it was designed as an action game not a simulation shooter, the reason why developers don’t make shooters complete simulations is that it really just isn’t that fun when every time one bullet hits you, you die. people play these games to chill out, play with friends or just blow off some steam other then that as long as there having fun they aren’t noticing small details and imperfections. After awhile they start to believe that the game is realistic because it features the real life names of guns and things like airstrikes and AC-130′s (which are probably from what I’ve read are the most accurately depicted weapons in this game). Hope that answers your question…
