By phone or on-line, you can talk to live “outdoor advisors” for free, even if you aren’t a member. These advisors are the best ever resource for information about what to buy, how to use it, and how to take care of it.

Campmor has a large line of backpacking lightweights to something for the whole family. They have a website I believe is campmor.com, and they have a mailed catalog
