Question by Melissa K: What is the distinction between these kinds of wakeboard ropes?
I just purchased a new wakeboard rope and the description stated is a vision line. My dad kept saying to make certain it is a straightline and I noticed on the internet a lot are named mainlines. What’s the difference between them??

Ok, to my understanding, and i could be wrong, the actual wakeboard rope is called mainlines, it doesn’t mean anything in particular. Straightline is a manufacturer of wakeboard ropes, not a style. They are a very good brand which is why your dad was most likely suggesting them. As far as your vision line, i feel that is just a style name put on the rope by your manufacturer. So basically, your comparing apples and oranges when you say whats the difference. Ones a item, ones a manufacturer, and ones just a fancy name put on the line.

KM hit the nail on the head. Straightline is a company and they make really good wakeboard ropes. Mainlines are in fact just the main part of the line. As for Vision that’s just that brands name for the rope.

here’s a link to read about different wake rope materials. Straight line started out in the ski rope biz so not all of their products are for wake boarding. Looks like the vision is a liquid force dyneema rope encased in urethane.
