In a actual world backpack to a remote and virtually inaccessible location of Mt. Rainier National Park, my 15 year old daughter and I, Trail Ambassadors for Gossamer Gear, demonstrate ultralight backpacking with simple pack weights of 9 pounds. This trip had typical challenges like heat, cold, water issues, scrambling, bushwhacking and bugs.

Sorry, I see you mentioned the helmetcam in the end of the film. Great cam. Never heard of that brand. I’m especially impressed with the fish-eye and wide-angle optics.
May I ask what cam you are using to get such good quality colour and that fish-eye effect? Is it a videocam or a photocam?
Thanks for ansering,
Mike
@burgess77 Thanks for that answer. Water/hydration is often a thing that hinder me going ultralight.
@kilolima55555 On this hike water was available from the springs in the Elysian Fields. We camped up at the saddle the first night and had more than a liter for both of us. How much I drink depends on how much I sweat/heat factor. I usually drink a lot at the source (@1 liter) then carry a liter with me to the next source. I also carry a collapsible 2 liter bag for xtra water if there is going to be any significant time between water sources. IOW, it depends…..
I wonder how you do with water on a hike like this. How much do you carry with you? How much do you drink in a day? Etc
@CarlZ993 I do, check out the video “1080p mounting ideas” on my channel.
What a great time! luv the tent and the camera. I would luv to purchase if able to get it to canada ! Thanks for sharing
I’m interested in your video camera / pole mount set up. Wish you had a little video about that. Looks pretty slick.
@mtvernonmills The tent is fully enclosed with a bathtub floor and noseeum netting, so once inside we had full protection from the bugs, and we really needed it!
This is a truly inspirational video. Thank you for making it. A little curious about your bug protection inside your tent. Again, thanks so much for this.
Love the area. Beautiful scenery and looks like you both had a great time. I take it there are no trails into it. That’s the best in my book, going across land to new discoveries. Thanks for sharing.
I’m inspired. Thank you sharing this.
@stunnadivah808 I don’t get paid for reviewing gear, but I always reveal up front that I am a trail ambassador for Gossamer Gear, and I use their gear when I can….which is most of the time.
Do you get paid reviewing gear?
the video quality was amazing as well as your photography skills, keep on keepin on…………ss13.
@MrDanny2461 You may have some great times ahead. I started taking my kids out by car camping and they would play in the area. Then it was car camping with little day hikes. They did their first overnight backpacks at about 7, though many kids go out much younger. My daughter has turned out to be a great hiking partner, and the times spent are invaluable.
You motivate me… I just had a daughter and I can’t wait until she is old enough to come out and backpack with me. Your videos help to inspire me to keep doing what I love and ultralight backpacking is one of my passions in life.
Great job…some day I hope I can go that light. Cheers.
That was great video. It’s really cool to see a father and daughter team.
Video looks great! Another awesome short!
I’ve been waiting for you to make another video like that. That was fantastic. I think the Murmur is lighter than I want to go. I think your Gorrilla pack is a better fit for me. I can’t let loose of the hip belt.
