The Micro Regulator Stove OD-1R made by SOTO. This stove is the 2010 BACKPACKER MAGAZINE “Editors Choice” pick. I bought this stove for .00 and I have had the pleasure of using this stove for only a couple months now and it works great with more efficiency then my snow peak giga power stove. This is my new upgrade! This video quickly demonstrates how the SOTO Micro Regulator Stove works and functions in the outdoors at an elevation of about 6200 FT above sea level.

@alexmann25 For winter time backpacking, I prefer the Micro Regulator Stove. It out performed the Giga Power Stove in cold temperatures and it has a nice flame pattern that works well for both small and large pots. The Giga Power Stove, however, is much more stable because it has 4 legs for a pot stand and you can buy an optional windscreen. The Micro Regulator stove has no windcreen but I would make one with a tuna fish can. Cut slits to match the stove legs and use a paper “clamp” to secure.

Which one do you like better, this one or the snow peack gigapower stove?

Can you recomend a good compact and light windscreen for this stove? Also how stable was the pot on top of the stove.

Thanks for watching. There are many videos that demonstrate the regulating features of this stove, BUT, there are no videos of this stove being put to its actual use …BACKPACKING! Once I get the opportunity to go backpacking in sub zero conditions, (which may not be until winter again) I will post a follow up video of how the Soto Micro Regulator Stove does in those extreme cold conditions.

good review but the whole point of this stove is that it is the only isobutane canister stove that will work at high elevation and negative temps. what elevation were you at? what was the temp outside?

I like that the Snow Peak Lite Max pot supports are best for the small cooking pot stability factor. It is also the lightest lightweight. Now I have purchased this Soto stove, I have to say it: This is a great stove.

The stuff bag that I put my cooking kit into is an old MSR mess kit bag. I have had it for a long time and it seems to hold my cooking setup perfectly.

Nice produce review video. What is the bag that you have stuffed all of that into?
