Question by Jd: is it dangerous to hold onto the rope after falling off the water skiis? even if the skiis have fallen off?
a while ago i went water skiing and i fell into the water, the skiis came off and i kept holding onto the rope and was getting pulled along, is holding on dangerous?

It sure is. You could easily get hurt or drown from being pulled under water.

    unless you know how to tumble into a barefoot stance don’t do it. Lots of damage can happen to you. you wont be pulled under water if the boat is still going at pulling speed. you get bounced around a lot. last time I did that, accidentally, a muscle got pinched between 2 ribs. 3 weeks of steroid treatments later and I still had a hard time breathing. not good! Your shoulders, hips, knees can take a beating and no point in messing with the joints.

    Yes it is… the possible (and likely) outcome is; dislocation of one or more joints, serious ingestion of water, ruptured ear-drum(s) and maybe others that I can’t think of right now.

    Letting go is the first thing you gotta do.

    Beyond being dangerous it is just futile, once your are down there is no reason to try and rescue the situation.
