Turkey gets its name from the fact that its people are known as Turks. They came into Asia minor in the 11th century, and the people of Turkey say it Turkiye.

The turkey (bird) was first imported into Europe from Turkey (the place) in the 16th century or so. It had not been seen before, and was called a turkey-hen because of its origin. That was soon shortened to just “turkey.” But the chicken had been known in Europe since time immemorial, and all the European languages had a word for it (cicen in Old English, leading to chicken in modern English).

Because my comrades of the Chicken Liberation Army-Provisional (CLAP) are still suffering degradation and poor quality toilet paper in the gulags of Slobovia. The Slobs are imprisoning my comrades, but one day we stay strike them down, liberate the prisoners and live FREE! But until then, we must make sure to try and upsell fries with every order.
