I’ve been pheasant hunting off and on for 25 years, this book has both confirmed what I knew and contradicted what I thought I knew. I do have some new tactics for next season and that alone makes this book worth it. I think I’ll buy one for every hunting partner, maybe they’ll stop slamming doors and scaring the birds!

This book is like and old friend. I read the first hard bound edition years ago and it still sits on my bookshelf with other treasured books about pheasant hunting. When this new edition was published I immediately purchased a copy for my son, who is new to pheasant hunting. This is a great book on pheasant hunting and an enjoyable read. Highly recommended for experienced and novice bird hunters.

Reading the first edition from 1982 was as enjoyable as much for the detailed information on all aspects of pheasant hunting as it was for the historical nature of a book over a quarter century old. The facts are still solid, though a look at the 2005 2nd edition might be warranted. Steve Grooms humble nature comes through as he more often than not has a personal anecdote regarding what not to do in the many different situations he describes. Informational and entertaining, it is well worth a read.
