If I was in a survival situation id just drink it straight outa the flowing water… or if it looked a bit dodgy id boil it first, your more likely to die of dehydration than from the bacteria in the water…. If I got those tablets with me id throw a couple in aswell but if it is a survival situation you probably wont have them on you

Folks think you can just boil water and swig away. Not true – Navy taught us to, yes, boil it for a few minutes then let it cool for 20-30 minutes then reboil to kill any bacterial or fungal spores that had hatched or were still remaining in the boiled water.

you could also just fill the bottle with water, peel off the label and put the bottle in the sun (or if walking in the sun, strap it to your pack) for six hours. No pills or iodine solution to taste or run out of.

great for using while hunting, so you dont have to carry so much water. make sure you get the treated water on the cap and outside threads of the bottle top during the shaking process. you don’t always have time to boil water, and these work while you travel. they are super light and very small. jackoalltheway you’re a fuckin idiot. when you die of dysentary the world will be better off.

so it takes half an hour for the tablets to work….and water boils in about 4 mins and would be safer to drink….. I think its more important to know how to make a fire and a make shift container to boil it in for this situation..

    An Interesting FACT:
If you look back into the history of beer you’d find that during the 7th centurary most Germans drank light beer over water because alcahol killed the bacteria the water. Im not saying you always need to sanitise water BUT if its NOT flowing and the bottom of the waterbed ISN”T clear of moss and debris then you should defininatley NOT drink it. Our Ancestors survived by findind out the horrible way what was safe and what wasn’t BUT today we know better.

@jackoalltheway yeh because Typhoid isn’t a problem, nor are Leptospirosis, Dysentery or Salmonellosis – FOOL

How do you all explain the survival and evolution of man kind?? The trouble is these days we are all to soft/ sterile, we dont have any parasites, we arent immune to any of these bacteria. water is the main source of life just drink it fuck all this technical bollox, in a real survival situation you aint guna worry about purifying tablets trust me ive been there!

Sorry but your arguement is flawed…

A prerson in the wilderness can last 3 days. If that was to go without water for that length of time without even considering to try and purify some drinking water then their morons.

I can understand you might not have all of these objects at hand but this is only just one way to purify water.

Ok.. Heres the thing… yes you can get sick yes you can have problems but let me ask you this If you have no way to purify water.. are very dehydated and sick from it already.. why not just drink the water and take that risk.. Yes you could get sick.. But you have to Look at it this way If you pass up the water what will kill you frist.. Dehyration because you didnt drink it.. Or sickness… Yes you can get sick and die from it.. but you have to look at what will kill me now insteadofwhatmight

    @haha48

Homer Simpson ( on a life raft ):
“Water, water everywhere, lets all have a drink”

What you just said was equally as stupid, the bacteria and bugs might not kill you BUT it could cause sickness and diahorrea.

In a survival situation you need to make every source of nutrition count.

With any of these conditions your abillity to consume nutrition is greatly reduced and so is your abillity to walk over distance or even sleep.

This is so childish! The water, that’s the runny stuff in the background, right?

Do you mean the you routinely carry water purifying tablets on the off chance that you might find yourself in a ‘survival situation’. like the school bus gets a puncture or something?
