Review by ACmartin55 for Asolo Gear Hawk 2-Person Backpacking Tent

I bought this tent about 4 months back and finally had an opportunity to use it this past weekend. While this is a nice tent for the money I do have some complaints about the overall quality and support from both the seller and Asolo themselves. When I initially set this tent up at my house, the first thing I noticed is the cut of the fabric being off. The poles don’t seem match the actual tent as there is a good amount of fabric that bunches at the top portion of the dome. The sides still stay tight so it’s more of a cosmetic flaw than anything. The real problem came when I went to set my rain-fly up. The pole I was supplied with was too long by about 8 inches and when a link was removed, it was too short by about 4 inches. I have contacted both Asolo and Amazon to figure out if I received the wrong poles but no one from either company will respond to my emails so if you are handy with a hack saw, You should be fined with just cutting two of the links down to shorten the rain-fly pole.

Other than those two things this tent will keep you dry from the elements and the vestibule space is MASSIVE. I also like that the rain-fly practically reaches to the ground when staked down so it could be a good fall/winter tent. i don’t think I will use this as my primary, but it’s definitely going to be a spare that I bring on trips with me.

If you are looking for your first tent and don’t want to break the bank I would suggest this tent, just don’t expect any support from the seller or Asolo when it comes time for setup or if you have problems with the item.
